Donna van Oorschot & Rose
Het Vitrine Project, 4 July–14 August 2026

For this presentation, a series of small ceramic sculptures is arranged across a sheet of graph paper. Suspended by threads and placed in relation to one another, the forms become part of a loose system. An attempt to map something that may not be measurable.

The sculptures appear as fragments. A single puzzle piece sits among them, but no complete image is offered.

The installation was created by Donna within a context developed by Het Vitrine Project, who brought the work of Donna van Oorschot and Rose together.

Text by Het Vitrine Project

“…where we thought we were crawling out of Plato’s cave on our hands and knees, it turns out there is a cave outside the cave,” writes Lieke Marsman.1

What is reality? What is consciousness? How do we perceive?

Quantum physics studies how the smallest particles behave. They follow remarkable rules such as superposition, existing in multiple states at once, and entanglement, particles connected across distance.2

Both Donna and Rose create an inverted puzzle from a moment of consciousness. They dissect the particles and place them in two locations at the same time.

We are more than a bag of blood and bones, the artists proclaim.

Here is a diagram of forms, ceramic crumples. Here I am, a book belly, a beast, a spherical human, a blob, love that can walk.

I am the sun. I am a cloud.
