Galerie BUITENSTEBINNEN haalt eigentijdse beeldende kunst van jonge, startende kunstenaars naar de oude binnenstad en combineert hun werk met dat van gevestigde kunstenaars uit de Nieuwmarktbuurt. De galerie is elk laatste weekend van de maand open en is gevestigd in het Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts.

Beste kunstliefhebbers en creatievelingen,
We zijn alweer een maand verder — wat gaat de tijd snel! De afgelopen editie was een groot succes. Met trots kijken we terug op de expositie die we samen met Pleun van Vliet, Esmée Pattipeilohy, Claudia Mulder en Lola Schot hebben neergezet. Heb je het gemist? Kijk dan hier de foto's van Peter Lange terug. De titel van de afgelopen tentoonstelling: ‘De bultjes op de muren weten de weg’.
De residentie van Lola Schot heeft gezorgd voor bevestigingen én hopelijk nieuwe stappen in haar praktijk. BUITENSTEBINNEN is in ieder geval gegroeid door deze samenwerking. De dagen waren gevuld met kijken, proberen, herschikken en spelen.
We hebben besloten om een zomerstop in te lassen. Dat betekent dat de expositie van deze maand voorlopig de laatste zal zijn. Dit geeft ons ruimte om de eindexposities te bezoeken van St. Joost, de Rietveld Academie, HKU — en wie weet nog meer. Ook biedt het tijd om te puzzelen over de houdbaarheid en toekomst van de galerie.
Sinds afgelopen week is Noemi Coudray gestart met haar stage bij Amsterdam House of Arts and Crafts én bij BUITENSTEBINNEN. De komende twee maanden zal ze ons ondersteunen en meekijken wat het betekent om een onderneming te runnen.

In april hebben we twee praktijken die bij Buitenstebinnen samensmelten tot 1 expositie.

! Wederom is er tijdens de opening muziek van dj Red tijdens de opening !
(aangepaste openingstijden: Wij zijn meestal open van 1300 tot 1900. Aankomende week is ook de Rijksacademie open. Dus wij gaan de vrijdag om 1600 dicht om hier heen te kunnen)
Het winkeltje
Samen met Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts, onze thuisbasis op Oudeschans 21, hebben we gedurende het galerieweekend van BUITENSTEBINNEN een arts & craftswinkel. Te koop zijn unieke kunstwerken en ambachtelijke producten die door diverse ambachtslieden en kunstenaars zijn gemaakt.

Dear art lovers and creative people!
It’s already been a month — time flies! Our last edition was a great success. We look back with pride on the exhibition we put together with Pleun van Vliet, Esmée Pattipeilohy, Claudia Mulder, and Lola Schot. Missed it? You can still check out Peter Lange’s photos here. The title of the show was ‘The bumps on the walls know the way’.
Lola Schot’s residency brought new affirmations and hopefully directions to her practice. BUITENSTEBINNEN definitely grew through this collaboration. The days were filled with looking, trying, rearranging, and playing.
We’ve decided to take a little summer break. So this month’s exhibition will be the last one — for now. This will give us time to visit the graduation shows at St. Joost, the Rietveld Academie, HKU, and maybe even more. It also gives us space to focus on the long-term sustainability of the gallery.
Last week, Noemi Coudray started her internship with both Amsterdam House of Arts and Crafts and BUITENSTEBINNEN. Over the next two months, she’ll be supporting us and getting a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to run a creative business.

Afgelopen editie was een prachtige en leerzame expositie. Nogmaals bedankt aan de kunstenaars: Marieke Gelissen, Helena van Essen en Anna Kudryashova voor het geven van een inkijk in hun praktijk.
Er is weer veel gebeurd. We hebben officieel de subsidie ingediend en Donna is deze maand begonnen met werken bij Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts. Ze staat nu nog dichter bij de galerie!
Vergeet niet om de flyer te delen met vrienden familie en je liefjes.
De kunstenaars-borrel was reuze gezellig.
Peter Lange heeft dit vastgelegd. Als je benieuwd bent naar de foto’s, ze komen een deze dagen op de website van Donna te staan. Of vragen er naar door op dit mailtje te reageren. Dan krijg je ze toe gestuurd!

Residentie van LOLA SCHOT
13 april is Lola begonnen aan haar twee weekse residentie in Buitenstebinnen. Zij gaat deze twee weken vullen met experimenten, samenwerkingen en alles wat voorbij kan komen.
Lola heeft Noortje Verhoeven en Loes Gofers uitgenodigd om rondom performance te experimenteren. Bas van de Ven komt ook langs om te spelen met geluid.

Last edition was a wonderful and insightful exhibition. Thanks again to the artists: Marieke Gelissen, Helena van Essen and Anna Kudryashova for giving us a glimpse of their practice.
Much has happened. We officially submitted the grant and Donna started working at Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts this month. Now she is even closer to the galerie!

The artists' drinks were, as we say in Dutch, very gezellig.

Residency of LOLA SCHOT
April 13, Lola began her two-week residency at Buitenstebinnen. She is going to fill these two weeks with experiments, collaborations and everything that could come along.
Lola has invited Noortje Verhoeven and Loes Gofers to experiment around performance. Bas van de Ven is also coming by to play with sound.

Graag heten wij jullie binnenkort weer welkom in onze pas gestarte galerie BUITENSTEBINNEN. In dit experimenteerjaar 2025 leren we van elke voorafgaande maand om het een volgende keer beter te doen. We investeren in het leggen van contacten met jonge kunstenaars in de andere stadsdelen, zodat we hun werk dit jaar kunnen tonen. Om de galerie steeds te verbeteren en in de buurt te verankeren, nodigen we vrijwilligers uit om mee te helpen. Dat kan op incidentele of reguliere basis, elk initiatief dat past in de doelstelling is welkom.
Wij zijn iedereen dankbaar die BUITENSTEBINNEN komt bezoeken en hopen dat het bezoekersaantal verder toeneemt. Het is daarom fijn als jullie ons helpen door deze nieuwsbrief door te sturen naar bekenden.

De expositie in maart ‘tussen stilte en gedonder’
Op uitnodiging toont galerie BUITENSTEBINNEN in de derde maand van haar bestaan werken van drie kunstenaars. Samen richten zij de galerie in en stemmen hun werken op elkaar af zodat een boeiend geheel ontstaat. De kunstenaars zijn:
Helena van Essen, Marieke Gelissen en Anna Kudryashova.
De titel van de expositie is afgeleid van het gedicht ‘Haat’ van Wisława Szymborska
De opening en kunstenaars borrel Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt
Donderdag 27 maart van 17.00 - 20.00 combineren we de opening van de nieuwe expositie met de traditionele kunstenaarsborrel van Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt. Het openingspraatje start om half zes. Vanaf 19.00 tot 20.00 is de dansvloer open met muziek van dj Red.
Tijdens de opening is er een performance van Marieke Gelissen en Anna Kudryashova.
De kunstenaars zijn aanwezig.
Workshop acrylverven
Op zaterdag 29 maart van 14.30 - 17.00 uur geeft beeldend kunstenaar Selanna Holleman een workshop “acrylverven”, waarbij de kunstwerken uit de expositie als inspiratie dienen. Kosten € 15,-.

Voortborduurproject
Vanaf februari ligt er een tafelkleed waar iedereen die het leuk vindt aan kan borduren. Je mag er je eigen figuren of teksten op borduren, zodat aan het eind van het jaar een 'gesamtkunstwerk' gepresenteerd kan worden. Doe mee!

Dear art lovers and creative people!
We would like to welcome you back soon to our newly launched gallery BUITENSTEBINNEN. In this experimental year 2025, we are learning from each previous month to do better next time. We are investing in making contacts with young artists in the other districts of the city so that we can show their work this year. To continually improve the gallery and anchor it in the neighborhood, we invite volunteers to help. This can be on an occasional or regular basis, any initiative that fits into the objective is welcome.
We are grateful to everyone who comes to visit BUITENSTEBINNEN and hope that the number of visitors continues to increase. It is therefore great if you can help us by forwarding this newsletter to acquaintances.

The exhibition in March ‘tussen stilte en gedonder’
By invitation we are showing works by three artists in the third month of its existence. Together they will assemble the gallery and coordinate their works to create a whole. The artists are:
Helena van Essen, Marieke Gelissen and Anna Kudryashova.
The title of the exhibition is derived from the poem ‘Haat’ van Wisława Szymborska
The opening and artist drinks Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt
Thursday, March 27, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m, we will combine the opening of the new exhibition with the traditional artist drinks of Open Ateliers Nieuwmarkt. The opening talk starts at 5:30.
From 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. the dance floor will be open with music by DJ Red.
During the opening there will be a performance by Marieke Gelissen and Anna Kudryashova.
The artists will be present.
Workshop acrylic paints
On Saturday, March 29, from 2:30 - 5 p.m, visual artist Selanna Holleman will give an “acrylic paints” workshop, using the artworks from the exhibition as inspiration. Cost € 15.

Continuing embroidery project
Starting in February there will be a tablecloth on which anyone who likes can embroider. You may embroider your own figures or texts on it, so that at the end of the year a “gesamtkunstwerk” can be presented. Join in!
